Early Readers Club
United Way of Central Indiana’s Success By 6 initiative launched Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in January 2006. Since then, United Way has provided more than 300,000 books to over 20,000 children across central Indiana. In 2008, United Way is making changes to its early literacy program in order to provide books to even more children. [View the letter we recently sent to Imagination Library parents.]
This new program, the Early Readers Club, encourages parents and caregivers to read to their child starting day one. Families can register to receive 12 high-quality children’s books (view the list) each year until the child’s sixth birthday, providing countless opportunities for kids and parents to read together. The Early Readers Club currently serves children in Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties.

Kindergarten Readiness
Formerly the "Ready Communities" project, the Kindergarten Readiness project is a high-impact neighborhood based project focused on building relationships between schools, parents, and early childhood programs in order to support children's transition to kindergarten. The project helps elementary schools and community-based child care programs in the Martindale-Brightwood and Near Eastside neighborhoods in Indianapolis deliver high-quality early childhood educational services.
